In season 4 of The Office, Michael accidentally hits Meredith Palmer with his car.
This happens at the beginning of “Fun Run,” the two-part season-four premiere that first aired in 2007. As Michael arrives at the Dunder Mifflin Scranton office, he strikes Meredith in the parking lot. The accident sends her to the hospital with a fractured pelvis and sets the episode’s chaotic story in motion.
Michael reacts with a mixture of guilt, panic, and self-absorption. He becomes convinced that the office is cursed after Meredith’s accident, a computer virus, and the death of Angela’s cat, Sprinkles. He even organizes a charity run to raise rabies awareness after learning that Meredith may have been exposed to rabies.
A common mix-up is remembering the accident as a deliberate act or confusing Meredith with another Scranton employee. It is accidental: Michael is driving into work and hits Meredith, played by Kate Flannery.
