Eric Foreman became the dean of medicine at Princeton-Plainsboro in House M.D. season 8.
Foreman began the series as one of House’s diagnostic fellows and remained one of the longest-serving members of the medical team. Omar Epps played him throughout the show. Foreman is ambitious, highly intelligent, and more cautious about professional rules than House, although working with House repeatedly tests his boundaries.
By the final season, Foreman has moved into hospital leadership. His promotion creates an important reversal: a doctor who once answered to House now has authority over House’s employment and the Diagnostic Medicine department. That change reflects Foreman’s professional growth and the institutional consequences of his years at Princeton-Plainsboro.
Foreman should not be confused with Robert Chase, who becomes associated with Diagnostic Medicine later, or James Wilson, who leads Oncology. Gregory House remains the department’s defining diagnostician, but Foreman is the character who reaches the dean’s office by season eight.
