Which Champagne house produces the single-vineyard Clos du Mesnil cuvée?

The story behind the answer

Krug produces the single-vineyard Clos du Mesnil cuvée.

Clos du Mesnil is a small walled vineyard in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, one of Champagne’s celebrated Chardonnay villages. Krug first released a wine from the site in 1979, using grapes from the 1975 vintage. The vineyard is associated with Blanc de Blancs Champagne because it is planted with Chardonnay.

The wine is made as a vintage bottling rather than a regular non-vintage blend. Its identity comes from the particular vineyard, village and harvest year, making it distinct from Krug Grande Cuvée, which blends wines from multiple locations and vintages.

Clos du Mesnil is not the same vineyard as Philipponnat’s Clos des Goisses or Bollinger’s Clos Saint-Jacques. Those names also describe highly regarded Champagne sites, but they belong to different producers and appellation histories.
