Which building appeared on the reverse of the Kennedy half dollar in the United States Bicentennial coinage?

The story behind the answer

Independence Hall appeared on the reverse of the Kennedy half dollar in the United States Bicentennial coinage.

The United States Mint created special circulating designs for the quarter, half dollar, and Eisenhower dollar to commemorate the nation’s 200th anniversary. The half dollar featured Independence Hall in Philadelphia, the building where the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were debated and adopted or signed during the founding era.

The three coins shared the dual date 1776–1976. They were produced in both 1975 and 1976, but no coins dated 1975 were issued for these designs. Their temporary reverses replaced the usual designs used on the Washington quarter, Kennedy half dollar, and Eisenhower dollar.

The other two Bicentennial reverses carried different imagery: a Colonial drummer appeared on the quarter, while the dollar showed the Liberty Bell over the Moon. The designs connected historic Philadelphia landmarks and patriotic imagery with the anniversary of independence.
