Which brother of Rama was born to Queen Kaikeyi?

Bharata was the brother of Rama born to Queen Kaikeyi in the Ramayana.

King Dasharatha had four sons by three queens: Rama was born to Kausalya, Bharata to Kaikeyi, and the twins Lakshmana and Shatrughna to Sumitra. Bharata was therefore Rama’s younger half-brother, not his full brother.

Kaikeyi later invoked two boons granted by Dasharatha. She demanded that Bharata inherit the throne and that Rama spend fourteen years in exile. Bharata was horrified by the decision and refused to treat the kingdom as his own. Instead, he placed Rama’s sandals on the throne and governed as Rama’s regent from Nandigrama.

A common mix-up is confusing Bharata with Shatrughna, who was also associated with Kaikeyi’s household but was born to Sumitra. Bharata’s wife was Mandavi, and his sons were Taksha and Pushkala.
