Which British monarch was crowned at Westminster Abbey in a 1953 coronation?

The story behind the answer

Elizabeth II was the British monarch crowned at Westminster Abbey in the 1953 coronation. The ceremony took place in London on 2 June 1953, more than a year after she became queen following the death of her father, George VI, on 6 February 1952.

Elizabeth was 25 when she acceded to the throne. The delay before her coronation followed the tradition of allowing time for mourning and for the extensive preparations required for a major state and religious ceremony. Her coronation was the first to be televised internationally, bringing the event to a huge audience and helping establish television as a central medium for public occasions.

The service was conducted at Westminster Abbey, where English and British monarchs had been crowned since William the Conqueror's coronation in 1066. Elizabeth II reigned for more than 70 years, making her the longest-reigning British monarch. Queen Victoria was also crowned at Westminster Abbey, but her coronation occurred in 1838, not 1953.
