High Speed 1 carries Eurostar trains from London to the Channel Tunnel.
Also called the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, High Speed 1 runs from London St Pancras International to the Channel Tunnel entrance near Folkestone in Kent. It was built in two major sections and was completed in 2007.
The railway allows international trains to leave central London and join the French high-speed network through the Channel Tunnel. Domestic southeastern services also use parts of the line.
High Speed 1 is frequently confused with High Speed 2, a separate British project intended to improve links between London and cities farther north. HS1 is the completed international route; HS2 is not the Eurostar corridor.
