Which British fashion retailer entered administration in November 2020 after collapsing during the COVID-19 pandemic?

The story behind the answer

Arcadia Group entered administration in November 2020 after collapsing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The retail group owned brands including Topshop, Topman, Dorothy Perkins, Burton and Miss Selfridge. It appointed administrators on November 30, 2020, after store closures and declining high-street sales worsened its financial problems.

Arcadia had previously been one of Britain’s largest fashion retailers. Its difficulties reflected online competition, changing consumer habits, high property costs and the pandemic’s disruption to physical stores.

The brands did not all vanish at once. ASOS acquired Topshop, Topman, Miss Selfridge and the online business in 2021, while Boohoo acquired several other Arcadia brands. Arcadia is different from Debenhams, which entered administration separately.
