Tyson Fury defeated Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 to win the unified heavyweight titles.
The fight took place on November 28, 2015, at the Esprit Arena in Düsseldorf, Germany. Fury entered as an unbeaten challenger, while Klitschko had held the WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles for years and had not lost since 2004.
Fury won by unanimous decision after 12 rounds, with the judges scoring the bout 115–112, 115–112 and 116–111. His movement, awkward rhythm and height advantage frustrated Klitschko, who struggled to land his normally effective right hand. The victory ended Klitschko’s nearly decade-long reign as heavyweight champion.
The victory made Fury the unified WBA, IBF and WBO champion, along with the IBO and The Ring titles. His reign was brief: the IBF stripped him after he agreed to a rematch clause that conflicted with its mandatory challenger, and he later vacated the other belts amid personal and health problems.
