The British banknote that featured Michael Faraday was the £20 note.

Faraday appeared on the reverse of the Bank of England’s first Series E £20 note, introduced on 5 June 1991. The design paired his portrait with images connected to the Royal Institution, where he spent most of his professional life as a scientist and lecturer.

The Faraday design was replaced in 1999 by a revised £20 note featuring composer Edward Elgar, and the denomination later featured economist Adam Smith and painter J. M. W. Turner. That history creates a common mix-up: Faraday was associated with the £20 denomination, but he is not on the current note. His note ceased to be legal tender in 2001.
