Which bridge links Denmark and Sweden across the Øresund Strait?

The story behind the answer

The Øresund Bridge links Denmark and Sweden across the Øresund Strait.

Opened in 2000, the crossing connects Copenhagen with Malmö and forms part of a combined road-and-rail route. It is not a single bridge for its entire length: the crossing includes a bridge, an artificial island called Peberholm, and the Drogden Tunnel.

The bridge section is approximately 7.8 kilometres long and includes a cable-stayed main span. The tunnel allows ships and aircraft to use the strait without the bridge obstructing the approach to Copenhagen Airport. A common mix-up is calling the whole crossing simply a bridge; technically, the Øresund Link is the bridge, island, and tunnel system together. Road users pay a toll, while trains run across the link between the two countries.
