Gwangan Bridge connects Busan’s Nam District with Haeundae District across Suyeong Bay.
Also called Gwangandaegyo, the bridge opened in 2003 and carries road traffic on two levels. It is a suspension bridge and forms an important part of Busan’s coastal road network, helping connect districts around the bay.
The bridge is especially famous at night, when lighting systems illuminate its long deck and towers. Those displays have made it a major Busan landmark and a common feature in views of the city’s waterfront.
Gwangan Bridge is sometimes confused with Busan’s newer Diamond Bridge nickname or with Incheon Bridge, which serves the Seoul metropolitan area and airport connections. Gwangan Bridge’s defining setting is Suyeong Bay, with Gwangalli Beach nearby and Haeundae across the water.
