The Helix Bridge in Singapore is the pedestrian bridge opened in 2010 and shaped like two intertwined helices.
Officially called The Helix, it crosses Marina Bay and links the Marina Centre area with the Bayfront Centre. The structure uses stainless-steel tubes arranged in a double-helix pattern, creating a distinctive design inspired by the geometry of DNA.
The bridge is about 280 metres long and includes viewing platforms that look toward Marina Bay Sands, the Singapore Flyer, and the city skyline. It was designed by an international team led by Architects 61 and Cox Architecture, with Arup providing engineering work.
The Helix Bridge is sometimes confused with Singapore’s Esplanade Bridge, a nearby road bridge. Unlike the Esplanade Bridge, The Helix is primarily a pedestrian connection and is recognized for its sculptural double-helix form.
