Which boxer is known as 'The Brockton Blockbuster'?

Rocky Marciano is the boxer known as “The Brockton Blockbuster.” The nickname honored both his devastating punching power and Brockton, Massachusetts, the city where he was raised and began developing as a fighter.

Born Rocco Francis Marchegiano in 1923, Marciano became a professional heavyweight from 1947 to 1955. He won the world heavyweight championship in 1952 by stopping Jersey Joe Walcott in the 13th round and defended it six times before retiring undefeated.

Marciano finished with a 49–0 professional record, including 43 victories by knockout. His relentless pressure, stamina and powerful right hand made the “Blockbuster” label fitting. He also became the only heavyweight champion to retire without a defeat, although later fighters such as Floyd Mayweather surpassed his overall unbeaten record in different circumstances.
