Which bot created over 1 million articles on the Swedish Wikipedia?

The story behind the answer

Lsjbot created over 1 million articles on the Swedish Wikipedia. It was an automated article-creation bot developed by Swedish physicist Sverker Johansson, whose username inspired the name “Lsjbot.”

The bot focused mainly on structured topics such as species, geographical features, rivers, mountains, and dams. On 15 June 2013, the Swedish Wikipedia reached one million articles; Lsjbot had created about 454,000 of them by that point.

Its output helped the Swedish edition grow extraordinarily quickly. It passed two million articles in 2015 and three million in 2016, although many entries were short database-based stubs. Critics questioned whether such mass-produced articles offered enough depth, sourcing, or human editorial judgment.

Lsjbot also produced millions of articles in Cebuano and Waray Wikipedia. Its large-scale article creation later slowed or stopped as local communities became more cautious about bot-generated content.
