Which book opens C.S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia series?
Answer
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Answer
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe opens C.S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia series.
Published in 1950, the novel introduces the Pevensie children—Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy—and their discovery of the magical land of Narnia through a wardrobe. Narnia is trapped in the White Witch’s endless winter, and the children become involved in the return of the lion Aslan and the restoration of the kingdom.
The publication order differs from the internal chronological order sometimes used in editions. The Magician’s Nephew, published later in 1955, is set earlier in Narnian history and explains the world’s creation. Lewis originally published The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe first, and many readers still begin there because it provides the series’ first introduction to Narnia, Aslan, and the Pevensie family. The book became one of the most widely read works of twentieth-century children’s literature.
