Which BMW model uses the chassis code G22?
Answer
BMW 4 Series
Answer
BMW 4 Series
The BMW model using the chassis code G22 is the BMW 4 Series, specifically its second-generation coupé. The related convertible is coded G23, while the five-door Gran Coupé is coded G26.
BMW introduced the G22 4 Series for the 2021 model year after unveiling the production car in 2020. It replaced the first-generation F32 4 Series and shares much of its engineering with the G20-generation BMW 3 Series.
Although the G22 is closely related to the 3 Series, BMW positions the 4 Series as the sportier and more upscale model. Its design was especially notable for the large vertical kidney grille, a styling choice previewed by the BMW Concept 4 shown at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The chassis-code wording causes frequent confusion because “G22” identifies the coupé body specifically, not every car sold under the 4 Series name. The convertible and Gran Coupé belong to the same generation but carry different internal codes. The high-performance M4 coupé uses the related G82 code.
