Stromae provides vocals on Coldplay’s “Arabesque.” The Belgian singer and songwriter is also credited as a co-writer on the track, which appears on Coldplay’s 2019 album Everyday Life.
“Arabesque” was released alongside “Orphans” on 24 October 2019 as one of the album’s double lead singles. Its sound reflects Coldplay’s more experimental approach on Everyday Life, combining art rock and nu-jazz elements with prominent horn parts and an international cast of collaborators.
Stromae is not the song’s only notable guest. Nigerian musician Femi Kuti contributes horn parts, while the Palestinian oud ensemble Le Trio Joubran also appears. Kuti, Stromae and all four Coldplay members are among the credited writers. The song is sometimes remembered mainly for its instrumental guests, but Stromae’s vocal contribution is the answer to this question. “Arabesque” also became notable as Coldplay’s first release to include profanity.
