Which baseball player is known as "Arod"?

The story behind the answer

The baseball player known as “A-Rod” is Alex Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, whose full name is Alexander Enmanuel Rodriguez, became one of Major League Baseball’s most recognisable stars. The nickname is a simple abbreviation of his first initial and surname, and it became especially familiar during his years with the Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers and New York Yankees.

A shortstop and third baseman, Rodriguez was selected first overall by Seattle in the 1993 MLB draft. He developed into a prolific power hitter, winning three American League Most Valuable Player Awards and earning 14 All-Star selections. In 2009, he helped the Yankees win the World Series.

The nickname can occasionally cause confusion because “A-Rod” is also used informally for other athletes whose names begin with A and end in “Rod.” In baseball, however, the established reference is Alex Rodriguez. His playing career also included controversy: he received a historic suspension for performance-enhancing-drug violations in 2014, but that does not change the identity associated with the nickname.
