The band whose 1990 album Seasons in the Abyss includes the title track is Slayer.
Seasons in the Abyss is Slayer’s fifth studio album, released on October 9, 1990, through Def American Records. The title song appears on the album and became one of its best-known tracks, pairing a dark, mid-tempo atmosphere with the band’s aggressive thrash-metal attack. “War Ensemble” and the title track also received substantial airplay on MTV’s Headbangers Ball.
The album occupies an important place between Slayer’s extremes: it retains the speed associated with Reign in Blood while incorporating the heavier, more deliberate pacing of South of Heaven. It was produced by Rick Rubin and was the last Slayer album to feature the classic lineup with drummer Dave Lombardo until his return for Christ Illusion in 2006.
The title track’s video was filmed near Egypt’s Giza pyramids, a detail that sometimes causes confusion with the album’s historical or occult imagery. The artist, however, is unambiguously Slayer.
