Which band recorded the album 'The Years of Decay'?

The story behind the answer

The thrash metal band Overkill recorded the album The Years of Decay. It was released on October 13, 1989, through Atlantic and Megaforce Records as the group’s fourth studio album.

The album was produced by Overkill and Terry Date, who also worked on the band’s next record, Horrorscope. Its songs combine aggressive thrash metal with more progressive and slower elements, including doom-metal touches. “Elimination” became the album’s only single, while its video received regular exposure on MTV’s Headbangers Ball.

The Years of Decay was the last Overkill album to feature guitarist Bobby Gustafson. It reached number 155 on the Billboard 200 and has frequently been identified as one of the band’s defining releases. Its darker, heavier guitar sound also influenced the developing groove-metal scene, including Pantera’s transition toward the style heard on Cowboys from Hell. Anthrax, Exodus, and Testament are related thrash-metal names, but they did not record this album.
