How to Train Your Dragon won the Annie Award for Best Animated Feature at the 2011 Annie Awards.
The Annie Awards are presented by the international animation community and recognize achievement in animated film, television, and other animated media. The first How to Train Your Dragon was a major winner at the 38th Annie Awards, taking the top feature prize along with several craft and performance honors.
The award is distinct from the Academy Award and the Golden Globe. The film was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the Oscars but did not win that category. It also received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Animated Feature Film.
The Annie success reflected the film’s strengths in animation, character work, direction, music, and storytelling, helping establish it as one of DreamWorks Animation’s most acclaimed productions.
