Mo’at is Neytiri’s mother in Avatar: Fire and Ash.
Mo’at is the spiritual leader of the Omaticaya, the forest-dwelling Na’vi clan introduced in the first Avatar film. She is played by CCH Pounder and is identified in the film’s cast information as Neytiri’s mother. Her role makes her both a family elder and an important religious authority within the clan.
Neytiri’s father is Eytukan, who was the Omaticaya chief. This family connection is an easy source of mix-ups, especially because Eytukan and Mo’at are both central figures in Neytiri’s backstory. Mo’at is not related to the newer reef-clan characters Ronal or Tsireya, and she is not Varang, the leader of the hostile Mangkwan clan.
Mo’at’s importance extends beyond genealogy. In the original Avatar, she serves as a guide to Jake Sully and helps him understand Na’vi traditions, Eywa, and the spiritual bond connecting Pandora’s living systems. Her position helps explain Neytiri’s deep knowledge of Omaticaya culture and her standing as a warrior and daughter of a respected clan family.
