The Ducato is a Fiat-branded light commercial vehicle first launched in 1981. Its development came from a collaboration between Fiat and PSA Peugeot Citroën, and production was organized through Sevel, the joint venture created by the two groups. That shared origin explains why closely related vans appeared as the Peugeot Boxer and Citroën Jumper, but the vehicle wearing the Ducato name is the Fiat version.
The model has been sold in numerous markets under other badges. In North America, it became the Ram ProMaster, while later versions also shared their architecture with vehicles such as the Opel and Vauxhall Movano and Toyota Proace Max. Thus, Peugeot is an important development partner and sibling-brand seller, not the best answer to this question about the Fiat Ducato.
The Ducato is especially prominent in the motorhome industry. Its front-wheel-drive layout, broad range of wheelbases and body lengths, and practical cargo platform have made it one of Europe’s most common bases for camper conversions. An electric E-Ducato version entered the lineup in the 2020s.
