Which automaker introduced the Nissan GT-R R32 in 1989, reviving the Skyline GT-R name with four-wheel drive?

The story behind the answer

Nissan introduced the Nissan GT-R R32 in 1989, reviving the Skyline GT-R name with four-wheel drive.

The R32-generation Skyline GT-R used Nissan’s RB26DETT twin-turbocharged inline-six engine and the ATTESA E-TS electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system. It also featured advanced four-wheel steering technology called Super-HICAS, helping the car remain stable and responsive at high speeds.

The model quickly became prominent in touring-car and Group A racing. Its competition success, strong tuning potential and distinctive technology earned it the nickname “Godzilla” among enthusiasts, especially after its dominance in Australian motorsport.

The R32 was sold as a Nissan Skyline GT-R in Japan and several other markets. The broader GT-R name became independent from the Skyline with the R35 generation in 2007, so the R32 should not be confused with that later model.
