Which author wrote 'The Daughter of Time'?

Josephine Tey wrote The Daughter of Time.

Published in 1951, the novel is one of Tey’s best-known mysteries and the final book she published during her lifetime. Instead of following a conventional active investigation, it places Scotland Yard Inspector Alan Grant in hospital with a broken leg. Bored and confined to bed, Grant begins examining the historical mystery surrounding King Richard III and the disappearance of the Princes in the Tower.

Grant approaches the case like a detective, comparing portraits, historical accounts, motives, and surviving evidence. Tey uses his investigation to question how political winners shape the version of history that later generations accept. Within the novel, Grant concludes that the traditional image of Richard as a murderous villain was largely created by Tudor propaganda, although historians continue to debate the real events.

The title refers to the proverb “Truth is the daughter of time.” Readers sometimes confuse the book with a biography of Richard III, but it is a work of historical detective fiction. Tey also created Grant for several other novels.
