Which author created the 'Kurt Wallander' series?

The author who created the Kurt Wallander series is Henning Mankell.

Mankell, a Swedish crime writer, introduced Wallander in the 1991 novel Faceless Killers. The character is a troubled police inspector based in and around Ystad, a town in Sweden's southern province of Scania. Wallander's investigations combine conventional murder mysteries with stories about immigration, social unrest, loneliness, and changes in Swedish society.

The series is not connected to Martin Beck, another major Swedish detective created by Maj Sjöwall and Per Wahlöö. Nor is Wallander part of Stieg Larsson's Millennium novels or Arnaldur Indriðason's Icelandic crime fiction.

Mankell wrote multiple Wallander novels and collections, ending the character's main literary arc with The Troubled Man. Wallander has also been portrayed on television by Rolf Lassgård, Krister Henriksson, Kenneth Branagh, and other actors.
