Which Australian Prime Minister mysteriously disappeared while swimming?

Australian Prime Minister Harold Holt mysteriously disappeared while swimming on December 17, 1967. He was last seen at Cheviot Beach near Portsea, Victoria, and his body was never recovered.

Holt had gone to the beach with friends and entered rough water despite difficult conditions. Witnesses saw him being pulled away from shore by the current; an extensive search involving police, military personnel, and divers found no trace of him.

Because no body was discovered, Holt’s death was formally treated as a presumed drowning rather than confirmed through direct evidence.
