Which Assassin's Creed game introduced online multiplayer featuring Templar agents and Abstergo recruits?
Answer
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
Answer
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood introduced online multiplayer featuring Templar agents and Abstergo recruits.
Released in 2010, Brotherhood added a competitive multiplayer mode alongside its single-player story about Ezio Auditore in Renaissance Rome. Players selected Templar-aligned characters and hunted opponents while trying to remain inconspicuous in crowded environments.
The multiplayer design emphasized stealth, observation, and timing rather than straightforward combat. Players received contracts, tracked targets, and earned points for discreet executions. A pursuer could also be hunting them at the same time, creating a layered cat-and-mouse structure.
The feature was not part of Assassin's Creed II, despite that game's importance to Ezio's story. Assassin's Creed Revelations and Assassin's Creed III expanded the multiplayer formula, but Brotherhood was the series entry that first introduced it. Later single-player releases moved away from this mode.
