Fatboy Slim’s “Weapon of Choice” video won six MTV Video Music Awards in 2001.
The video is famous for its solo dance performance by actor Christopher Walken, who moves through an apparently empty hotel lobby before taking to the walls and ceiling. Spike Jonze directed the clip and designed its memorable combination of restrained camera movement, choreography, and visual effects.
Fatboy Slim is the stage name of English musician Norman Cook. “Weapon of Choice” appeared on his 2000 album “Halfway Between the Gutter and the Stars.”
The video’s awards success is often remembered primarily for Walken’s performance, but the recognition was also credited to its direction, choreography, editing, and special effects. It won six awards at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards, including Video of the Year.
