The song was the title track of the band’s 1976 album and featured Don Felder, Don Henley, and Glenn Frey as credited writers. Its extended guitar coda, layered production, and enigmatic lyrics made it one of the most recognizable recordings in rock history.
“Hotel California” was not the album’s only important success. The album won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 1977, before the single received its own Record of the Year honor at the following ceremony.
