Which artist won Best Alternative Music Album at the 2020 Grammys for "Father of the Bride"?

The story behind the answer

Vampire Weekend won Best Alternative Music Album at the 2020 Grammys for Father of the Bride.

The award was presented at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, held in January 2020. Father of the Bride was Vampire Weekend’s fourth studio album and their first release after a nearly six-year gap following Modern Vampires of the City.

The album expanded the band’s sound beyond its earlier tightly arranged indie-pop. It features folk, soft rock, African-influenced rhythms, electronic touches, and prominent collaborations, including appearances by Danielle Haim and Steve Lacy. Ezra Koenig and Ariel Rechtshaid were among the album’s producers.

The win made Vampire Weekend two-time recipients in the category. They had previously won Best Alternative Music Album for Modern Vampires of the City at the 2014 Grammys. Father of the Bride also received an Album of the Year nomination. The 2020 category’s other nominees included Big Thief, James Blake, Bon Iver, and Thom Yorke, so James Blake and Bon Iver were competitors—not the winner.
