Bruno Mars won Album of the Year at the 2018 Grammy Awards for 24K Magic.
The album was Mars’s third studio release and drew heavily on funk, R&B, hip-hop, and late-1980s and 1990s pop influences. Its title track, “24K Magic,” introduced the record’s celebratory sound and visual style.
Mars won all six awards for which he was nominated at that ceremony. In addition to Album of the Year, he received Record of the Year and Song of the Year for “That’s What I Like,” plus awards for R&B performance and album categories.
The album’s victory is distinct from Kendrick Lamar’s wins at the same ceremony for DAMN., which received several rap awards. The two artists represented different parts of the 2017 musical landscape.
