Daft Punk won Album of the Year at the 2014 Grammy Awards for Random Access Memories.
The French electronic duo’s fourth studio album won the ceremony’s top honor, beating albums by Sara Bareilles, Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and Taylor Swift. Random Access Memories also won Best Dance/Electronica Album and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical.
The album was notable for its live-instrument approach and its collaborations with musicians including Nile Rodgers, Pharrell Williams, and Giorgio Moroder. Its lead single, “Get Lucky,” became one of the year’s biggest international hits and won Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
The 2014 ceremony took place on January 26 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Daft Punk performed “Get Lucky” with Pharrell Williams, Nile Rodgers, Stevie Wonder, and other musicians, making the event especially memorable for fans of electronic and disco-influenced music.
