Phil Collins won Album of the Year at the 1986 Grammys for No Jacket Required.

The album was Collins’s third solo studio release and included the hit singles “Sussudio,” “One More Night,” and “Take Me Home.” Its polished pop-rock production helped make Collins one of the biggest artists of the 1980s.

No Jacket Required also won Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male, and Producer of the Year, Non-Classical. Collins shared the production credit with Hugh Padgham, a frequent collaborator known for influential 1980s drum sounds.

The album was released while Collins was also active with Genesis, but the Grammy victory was for his solo work. It is therefore distinct from Genesis albums and from Collins’s later film and soundtrack projects.
