Which artist was the youngest Grammy winner when she won at age eight?
Answer
Leah Peasall
Answer
Leah Peasall
Leah Peasall was the youngest Grammy winner when she won at age eight as a member of the Peasall Sisters.
She shared the 2002 Grammy for Album of the Year with the other performers and contributors to the soundtrack album O Brother, Where Art Thou? The Peasall Sisters contributed vocals to “In the Highways,” a traditional song featured in the film and soundtrack project.
The award was credited to the ensemble connected with the album, so Peasall’s achievement is not the same as winning a solo Grammy. Her age nevertheless made her the youngest person to receive a Grammy at that time.
The Peasall Sisters consisted of Leah, Hannah, and Sarah Peasall. Their appearance on the soundtrack helped introduce traditional American music to a broad international audience.
