Which artist led the 2024 MTV VMA nominations with 12?

Taylor Swift led the 2024 MTV VMA nominations with 12.

Her total reflected the continuing impact of her album The Tortured Poets Department and the blockbuster “Fortnight” collaboration with Post Malone. Swift received nominations across major categories, including Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, Artist of the Year, and Best Pop.

The 2024 ceremony took place at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, on September 11. Swift’s 12 nominations placed her ahead of Post Malone, who had 11, while Eminem and Ariana Grande were among the other heavily nominated artists.

Swift ultimately won seven awards, including Video of the Year for “Fortnight.” That victory extended her record in the category and reinforced her unusual VMA connection: she became the first artist to win Video of the Year three years in a row. The nominations figure can be confused with her final wins, but 12 refers to nominations, not trophies.
