Which artist designed the original Miss Dior perfume bottle?

The story behind the answer

Fernand Guéry-Colas designed the original Miss Dior perfume bottle.

The first Miss Dior bottle appeared in 1947, the year Christian Dior launched his couture house’s debut collection. Guéry-Colas created a bottle with a distinctive houndstooth-inspired visual treatment, connecting the perfume packaging to Dior’s fashion language.

The fragrance itself was composed by perfumer Jean Carles, so the bottle designer and the perfumer are different people. That distinction is a common source of confusion in questions about early Dior perfume history.

Later Miss Dior editions changed the bottle’s form and decoration, meaning that modern packaging should not be assumed to represent the original design. The original bottle belongs to the postwar launch period and helped establish Dior’s practice of treating fragrance presentation as an extension of couture.
