Taylor Swift became the first woman to win Album of the Year four times at the 2024 Grammys.
Swift’s fourth victory came for Midnights at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards. Her earlier Album of the Year wins were for Fearless in 2010, 1989 in 2016, and folklore in 2021.
Before Swift reached four wins, several artists had won the category three times, including Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, and Paul Simon. Swift’s achievement therefore set a new record for the category, not merely a record among women.
The milestone also highlighted the different musical eras represented by Swift’s winning albums. Fearless is associated with country-pop, 1989 with synth-pop, folklore with indie folk, and Midnights with contemporary pop and electronic textures.
