Which arena hosted the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards?

UBS Arena hosted the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. The ceremony took place on September 11, 2024, at the newly built arena in Elmont, New York, on Long Island.

The venue marked a change from several of the VMAs’ best-known New York locations. Earlier ceremonies had been staged at Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden, Barclays Center, and the Prudential Center in nearby Newark. UBS Arena, home of the NHL’s New York Islanders, opened in 2021 and became the event’s host for the 2024 edition.

Megan Thee Stallion hosted the show, which featured performances and awards including Taylor Swift’s major wins and Sabrina Carpenter’s Song of the Year victory. The venue is sometimes loosely described as being in New York City because the ceremony is marketed as a New York event, but UBS Arena is physically in Elmont, Nassau County.

That location distinction explains the distractors: Madison Square Garden, Barclays Center, and Prudential Center are all prominent regional arenas, but none hosted the 2024 VMAs.
