The Dragon is the fifth sign in the traditional Korean zodiac.
The Korean zodiac, or tti, follows the same 12-animal sequence used in the traditional Chinese zodiac: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig. The fifth position therefore belongs to the Dragon.
Korean zodiac years are traditionally calculated through the lunisolar calendar rather than by simply assigning every person born in a Gregorian calendar year the same sign. The precise changeover occurs around Lunar New Year, so birthdays in January or February can require careful checking.
Korean usage also includes the five elements and yin-yang associations through the broader East Asian calendrical tradition. Although the sign order matches China’s, pronunciation, cultural symbolism and popular interpretations are specifically Korean.
