Dingoes are lean, medium-sized canids that have lived in Australia for thousands of years. The oldest known dingo remains date to about 3,450 years ago. Their ancestors likely traveled from Southeast Asia through the Malay Archipelago with seafaring communities before establishing wild populations across mainland Australia.
