Which ancient wonder was located in Alexandria, Egypt, on the island of Pharos?

The story behind the answer

The Lighthouse of Alexandria was the ancient wonder located on the island of Pharos in Egypt.

Also called the Pharos of Alexandria, the lighthouse guided ships into the harbor of Alexandria, a major Hellenistic city founded by Alexander the Great in 331 BC. Construction is generally associated with the reign of Ptolemy II Philadelphus and is usually dated to the third century BC.

Ancient descriptions portray the structure as a very tall tower with multiple levels, topped by a fire or reflective light. Its exact height is uncertain, but many modern estimates place it somewhere between 100 and 130 meters. It was among the tallest human-made structures of the ancient world.

Earthquakes damaged the lighthouse repeatedly between the tenth and fourteenth centuries. Much of its stone was later reused in the Qaitbay Citadel, built on or near the former site in the fifteenth century. The English word “pharos” comes from its name.
