Which ancient wonder stood in Alexandria, Egypt, until an earthquake destroyed it?

The story behind the answer

The Lighthouse of Alexandria was the ancient wonder that stood in Alexandria, Egypt, until earthquakes destroyed it. Also called the Pharos of Alexandria, it was built on the island of Pharos to guide ships into the city’s harbour.

Construction began during the reign of Ptolemy I Soter and was completed under his son, Ptolemy II Philadelphus, in the third century BCE. Ancient writers describe a very tall structure with multiple levels, commonly reconstructed as a square lower section, an octagonal middle section, and a cylindrical upper section topped by a statue.

The lighthouse survived for many centuries but was damaged by several earthquakes between the tenth and fourteenth centuries. Much of its stone was later reused in the Qaitbay Citadel, built on the same site in the fifteenth century. The Colossus of Rhodes was another ancient wonder, but it stood on Rhodes and was destroyed by an earthquake centuries earlier.
