Which ancient wonder still stands at Giza in Egypt?

The story behind the answer

The Great Pyramid of Giza is the ancient wonder that still stands at Giza in Egypt.

Also called the Pyramid of Cheops or Khufu, it was built during Egypt’s Fourth Dynasty as a tomb for Pharaoh Khufu. Construction probably took place during the twenty-sixth century BCE, using millions of stone blocks. The pyramid originally had a smooth outer casing of white Tura limestone, most of which was later removed.

The Great Pyramid was the tallest human-made structure in the world for more than 3,800 years, reaching about 146.6 metres in its original form. Erosion and the loss of its casing reduced its present height to roughly 139 metres. It is the oldest and largest of the three main pyramids at Giza.

The other six traditional wonders have disappeared or survive only through archaeological remains and historical descriptions. The Great Pyramid’s survival is partly due to its massive construction and the dry Egyptian climate. Its exact building methods remain an active subject of study.
