Which ancient wonder is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still largely standing?

The story behind the answer

The Great Pyramid of Giza is the only surviving major structure from the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

Also called the Pyramid of Cheops or Khufu, it was built at Giza in ancient Egypt during the Fourth Dynasty, around the 26th century BCE. It was constructed as a royal tomb for Pharaoh Khufu and originally had a smooth outer casing of white Tura limestone.

The pyramid was approximately 146.6 metres tall when completed, making it the tallest human-made structure for roughly 3,800 years. Erosion and the loss of its casing reduced its present height to about 138.5 metres. The other six wonders were destroyed by earthquakes, fire, war or gradual decay.

The Great Pyramid is the largest of the three principal pyramids at Giza. The nearby Great Sphinx is a separate monument, not one of the Seven Wonders. The ancient list was compiled by Greek writers and described remarkable sites around the Mediterranean and Near East.
