Which ancient wonder is the oldest surviving structure?
Answer
Great Pyramid of Giza
Answer
Great Pyramid of Giza
The Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest surviving structure among the traditional Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
It was built in Egypt during the reign of Pharaoh Khufu, probably in the twenty-sixth century BCE. The pyramid originally stood about 146.6 metres high and was the tallest human-made structure in the world for more than 3,800 years.
The Great Pyramid formed part of the Giza pyramid complex, which also includes the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure and the Great Sphinx. It was constructed as a royal tomb, using millions of stone blocks transported and positioned by organized labour.
The other traditional wonders were destroyed by earthquakes, fire, warfare, or the passage of time. The Great Pyramid survived largely because of its massive scale, durable stone, and location on the Giza plateau.
