Which ancient structure is the largest surviving pyramid in Egypt?
Answer
Great Pyramid of Giza
Answer
Great Pyramid of Giza
The Great Pyramid of Giza is the largest surviving pyramid in Egypt.
Also called the Pyramid of Khufu, it was built during Egypt’s Fourth Dynasty, probably in the twenty-sixth century BCE, as a tomb for Pharaoh Khufu. Its original height was about 146.6 metres, although erosion and the loss of its outer casing reduced its present height.
The Great Pyramid was the tallest human-made structure in the world for roughly 3,800 years. It is the only surviving member of the traditional Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, making it different from the nearby pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure.
The monument is made from millions of stone blocks and forms part of the Giza pyramid complex near Cairo. The exact construction methods remain debated, but its alignment, scale, and engineering remain exceptionally impressive.
