America’s Field Trip is the America250 initiative inviting U.S. students in grades 3–12 to submit art or writing answering “What does America mean to you?”
The program is designed as a nationwide student contest connected with the United States Semiquincentennial. Students submit original artwork or writing, and selected participants can receive educational experiences at important American historical and cultural sites.
America’s Field Trip is one of several America250 programs with distinct purposes. Our American Story gathers personal oral histories, America Gives promotes volunteer service, and America Innovates highlights American ingenuity and entrepreneurship. Keeping these names separate prevents a common mix-up when identifying the student-focused program.
The initiative reflects the broad scope of the 250th-anniversary commemoration. Rather than limiting participation to ceremonies on July 4, 2026, America250’s programming invites students and communities to interpret American history, identity, and civic life in their own words. The grades 3–12 eligibility range includes both school-age children and older secondary students.
