Which album won Album of the Year at the 2009 Grammys?
Answer
Raising Sand
Answer
Raising Sand
“Raising Sand” won Album of the Year at the 2009 Grammy Awards. The album is a collaboration between former Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant and bluegrass-country artist Alison Krauss, produced by T Bone Burnett.
Released in October 2007, “Raising Sand” brought together roots, folk, country, and rock influences through a set of carefully chosen songs. Its unexpected pairing of Plant’s rock voice with Krauss’s precise, intimate singing became one of the recording’s defining strengths.
At the 51st Annual Grammy Awards on February 8, 2009, the album won all five awards for which it was nominated. Those included Record of the Year for “Please Read the Letter,” Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album, and Album of the Year. “Viva la Vida” was a nominee in the same top category, but it did not win.
